Title
Photo Collection: First Naval Aerial Survery
Description
These images are from the initial Naval aerial survey done of Palmyra in 1935, in preparation for a potential naval base to secure US territories in the Pacific. Construction of the base wouldn't begin until 1939. The photos are especially unique because they show a nearly pristine view of Palmyra before its massive construction changes a few years later.
There's also a map sketch, showing the potential areas of construction, several of which would be included in the final plans.
